Where most people are

You know strength training matters. Actually doing it is where it falls apart.

Not for lack of will, the path is genuinely unclear: which exercises, how heavy, how often, what changes next week. And underneath that, the doubts that stall capable people:

  • You're not sure you won't get hurt.
  • You've tried before and it went nowhere.
  • You suspect it'll be boring, or a poor use of your time.
  • You're used to being good at things, and struggling through something new, unguided, is easy to set aside for what you already know.

So it gets postponed. Not from a lack of will, from a lack of a plan you trust.

Why progress stalls

Working out and getting stronger are not the same thing.

Muscle only changes when you ask it to do a little more than last time, the same exercises, a little heavier, week after week. That progression is what makes you stronger, and it has to be planned in advance by someone who knows how. It's what people pay a strength coach for.

Progressive load Repeat the movements. Add a little more.
Planned progression Each week builds deliberately on the last.
Measurable strength Progress you can see three months from now.

Here's what trips people up: a group fitness class can leave you sweaty, sore, and feeling like you strength trained. It can be busy, hard, genuinely productive, and still not get you stronger, because it isn't a planned strength progression. A fitness class is built to give you a good workout that day, not to make you measurably stronger three months from now.

To get stronger, you have to strength train. Apex30 is that progression, recorded, so it runs on your schedule.

How it works

You're never left to figure it out alone.

01

Start here

Begin with a recorded “Start here” video: how to choose your starting weights, use your log, and adjust for old injuries.

02

Follow us on screen

From there, you open a workout and the two of us are on screen doing it with you, demonstrating, counting the reps, and cueing what comes next. Every exercise is shown at two levels, so you can see the version that fits you today and the one you're working toward. Each also has its own short video tutorial, there when you want it.

03

See your progress

In your digital log, you record the weight and reps you did on each exercise. When that workout comes back around, you're not guessing, you see what you lifted last time, and you add a little.

04

Build a rhythm that works

Three to four workouts a week is where progress lives. Two will hold your ground when life gets busy, but three or four is the goal, it's what makes twelve weeks actually count. The program is sequential, so it always picks up where you left off. Each workout is thirty focused minutes (the warm-up is a separate eight).

And there's no gym in any of it. No drive, no parking, no signing in. You turn on your device and start.

Your coaches

The two people who built this are the two people on screen.

Ryan MacQueen

Ryan MacQueen

Co-founder

20+ years coaching, and the trainer other trainers point to. Ryan has spent decades coaching people and building their workout programs, from teenagers to clients in their early nineties, designing strength training workout programs that work with how each body adapts. He is an elite athlete himself, and has trained people to build real athletic skill for their sports; that same work translates directly for people in mid-career and beyond who want to keep, and grow, their own physical capability. Ryan builds the strength programming behind every Tigers Eye Life program.

Karen Falkenberg

Karen Falkenberg

Co-founder

More than 1,250 group strength-training sessions coached on camera, live over Zoom. Karen holds a PhD and spent years as a psychology professor and researcher, and she's a Precision Nutrition Level 2 Master Health Coach and a Sam Miller functional nutrition and metabolism specialist. She started strength training in her early sixties and, at 69, still lifts heavier than she did then, coaching every rep from inside the work, not the sidelines.

We built Tigers Eye Life to support your capability across everything that matters at this age, strength, mobility, balance, explosive power, nutrition, metabolism, sleep and mindset. Apex30 is one of the ways we help you get stronger, recorded and on your schedule.

Proof

The format is new. The strength-training workouts are not.

For years, Ryan and Karen have coached these strength-training workouts live, in group sessions over Zoom and one-to-one. The members below are those people, and their results came from the strength training itself, not from years of it, but from doing it consistently. Apex30 is that same training, the same exercises, the same progression, scaled to a focused thirty minutes and recorded, so it runs on your schedule instead of ours. The real-time version is longer and coached as you go, that option is still open too. Apex30 just fits more schedules.

Marsha Benedetti

Never a weight lifter, now I see the benefits of consistent strength training. An African gorilla hike without worrying about my knees, and on the Galapagos, the upper body strength to sea kayak.

I found it hard to make time to get to the gym. Now I just log on to Zoom and train from home, gaining strength, and a community, in a convenient way.

From the Apex30 beta

Strength training on their own schedule.

Pam and Mark participated in the Apex30 at-home prerecorded workouts on their own schedule. Mark had never really known how to strength train, through the coached, prerecorded workouts, he learned. "Because it was virtual, we could do it whenever fit our schedule, we stayed consistent." She went from her 2.5-pound dumbbells to twenty.

What twelve weeks gets you

Strength you notice in your everyday life.

In your week

  • The groceries up the stairs in one trip.
  • The suitcase into the overhead bin without the little grunt.
  • The floor you get up from without thinking about it.
  • The trip you say yes to, booked, no hesitation.

What strength training does for body and mind

  • Supports bone density. Loading your skeleton through strength work is one of the most effective ways to support bone health, alongside enough protein, calcium and vitamin D.
  • Helps steady blood sugar. Muscle is where your body stores the carbohydrate you eat, more of it, working regularly, is associated with steadier energy and better insulin sensitivity.
  • Builds balance and stability. Strength and balance work train the systems that keep you upright on a scree slope, an icy pavement, or a boat deck.
  • Linked to sharper thinking. Resistance training is associated with better executive function, the planning and focus side of cognition.

General education about strength training, not medical advice. Check with your physician before starting a new exercise program.

Questions

What people actually ask.

What equipment do I need?

You'll get the full equipment list before you start, with exact weight ranges and band colors. Most people begin with a set of dumbbells or kettlebells and a couple of resistance bands, and add a little as the load climbs.

How do I actually get the workouts?

Everything lives on one page you can bookmark: the recorded “Start here” video, the four workouts, the warm-up, the tutorial library, and your log. No app to download, no account to create.

What if I have old injuries or limitations?

The recorded “Start here” video explains how to adjust for old injuries and limitations. Ryan has spent decades programming around old shoulders, cranky knees and reconstructed everything.

Do I have to work out at a set time?

No. The workouts are recorded, so you do them when your week allows, three or four times a week for real progress. On the coached option, there are six 45-minute live sessions across the twelve weeks.

Can my partner or household really join?

Really. One purchase covers everyone under your roof, and each person gets their own log.

What if I travel or miss a week?

The program is yours for the full twelve weeks. Missing a week does not break the progression. You pick up at the next workout, right where you left off.
